MO’ REA

MICHENER’S BALI HA’I

UPDATE

We just watched the movie “South Pacific” On Demand in our cabin. It seemed like an appropriate place to watch it while we were sailing the South Pacific!

In our earlier Blog, we said Morea was Bali Ha’I in the movie South Pacific. There is some discussion about that. Several islands have claimed to be Bali Ha’i. But there’s no question that the island where Lt. Joseph Cable and the plantation owner, Emile De Becque, go to spy on the Japanese troop movements is Mount Mou’aputa (the mountain with the hole) as discussed in the early Blog. The next scene, when they are sitting up to radio back to headquarters supposedly takes place in a cave in the hole in the mountain.

We were looking to confirm Bali Ha’I (couldn’t really do that) but found Mount Mouaputa instead!!
